November 28th- December 2nd

Writing:
This week in writing we will construct a letter to the president elect.  We will include things about ourselves and things that we are hopeful about.  We will also continue to produce books that include features of fiction/nonfiction.  We will work on writing complete sentences with capital letters in the correct places and ending marks.

Reading:
Media Literacy is our focus for a few weeks.  We will dig into the meaning of media literacy and find places that we see and hear it all the time.  We will discuss the purpose and also begin to use it in our writing.

Spelling:
Please look for your child's words on Monday.  They will come in their green folder with their calendar.  We will work on them at school but reinforcing the phonics skill at home is very beneficial.  We will assess on Friday to see how well they master the phonics skills.

Math:
We will begin working with money- up to $1.00.  This is a great skill that you can practice at home by simply counting coins.  Your child needs to recognize the coins and be able to make amounts from coins up to $1.00.  This is one of the hardest things to catch on to because cash is not a preferred method of payment these days.  Please practice at home!!!

Science:
We will become engineers this week as we help our gnome friends make a bridge.  This is a neat STEM activity that the kids love!  I can't wait to see what problem solving skills are used.

Reminders:
Holidays- Nov. 21-25

School Resumes- Nov. 28
