Writing:
We will work on writing our goals for the new year. We will need to explain how we are going to achieve them and add in details about that. Google Classroom will be started up and we'll be turning in assignments through that. We will continue to work on our expert books too, adding in our finishing touches.
Spelling:
We will work on words throughout the week and then assess on Friday. Although we do activities with the words at school, please take time to practice at home as well.
Reading:
We will begin our unit on folktales this week. We will get to read a variety of folktales and get to know more about this genre.
Math:
We are working on 2 step word problems this week. This is one of the most challenging concepts in second grade because prior information has to be applied in order to progress through each problem. We will do some fun activities and "missions" to practice this skill throughout the next 2 weeks.
Social Studies:
We will begin our study on maps. We will get to know about safety features and the map of Caraway. We will also talk about how Austin was 100 years ago and now and notice all of the changes that have occurred.
